Overview:
The Ninth Annual Undergraduate Philosophy Conference and the UAA Ethics Center Inaugural Convocation will be held at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), Anchorage, AK from March 27-29, 2014. The organizers and sponsors are delighted to have Professor Roger Ames as our keynote speaker. The conference and convocation will be forums for exchange of ideas and research between undergraduate students, advanced graduate students and faculty as well as members of the community on various philosophical topics, including those that have ethical and religious significance. The conference and convocation are organized by the Department of Philosophy and UAA Ethics Center and are sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, and Confucius Institute at UAA.

Call for Convocation Papers
The UAA Ethics Center invites faculty and advanced graduate students to submit papers addressing ethics or topics needing ethical analysis. We extend a particular welcome to papers that involve Chinese, East Asian, South Asian or other international perspectives.
Requirements for All Submissions
Abstracts should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words in Microsoft Word formats and should be sent as an email attachment, to the conference contact rxanthony@uaa.alaska.edu before December 16, 2013. If your abstract is accepted, then a full paper of no more than 4,000 words should be submitted in order to be included in the conference proceedings. Abstracts as well as the anticipated fifteen minute conference presentation should be prepared in English. (Full papers for the conference proceedings may be submitted in Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, or English.)
Additional Details
All participants are responsible for travel expenses.
A limited number of home-stays will be available to undergraduate participants.
